'Hit Factory'
by Coolzey
released in 2013

I like the idea of making hits for yourself. Songs that are a hit to you, or something you create that you can enjoy for years. Something with longevity. That's what a hit is to me. Longevity to me and my ears, so that I can present my aesthetic to others. I consider it so many things, but one of them is a responsibility. A responsibility to attempt resonance with my brothers and sisters. What if you made a song of your own that you liked so much that it made you sing along to it like in Risky Business? That's what I'm going for. Also, I believe that the true beauty lies in the imperfections rather than perfection. We'll see how these hold up over time. Enjoy.

lyrics

Well you gone off on your own
All the fussing and fighting damn near made you sick
You don't hear me
You don't hear me
You don't hear me
You don't hear me
You leave my ass alone
So I smoked some grass and grabbed my guitar pick
You can't see me
You can't see me
You can't see me
You can't see me
I was trying to get my trouble on
Baby don't you worry I asked for it
You don't owe me
You don't owe me
You don't owe me shit

Goddamn
I'm still smiling at the camera, man
Go on snap that pic
I am getting over what I have to and
I am adding on to my shtick

Well that's not all that I can do
Hold up now
I got this other trick
You can't rate me
You can't rate me
You can't rate me
You can't rate me
After all we've been through
Damned if I know what to make of it
You can't mold me
You can't mold me
You can't mold me
You can't mold me
I'm just trying to stay legit
While I'm down here
Fighting in this pit
You can't make me
You can't make me
You can't make me sick

Goddamn
I'm still smiling at the camera, man
Go on snap that pic
I am getting over what I have to and
I am adding on to my shtick

Coolzey Los Angeles, California

Golden era hip-hop roots planted in black Iowa dirt are the foundation. Growth tempered by alternative era rock influence. This along with a love for the juxtaposition of the dark, horrific nature of life paired with a slapstick and comedic view of the world allow for a wide, unpredictable arsenal ranging from soul-spilling indie bedroom rock to wise-cracking battle rap and on to radio pop. ... more
