Coolzey says: 'This beat and the vocal cadence were absolutely inspired by Biz Markie's 'Going Off' and I would go so far to say that technically it is a style parody of early Cold Chilling era Biz. During the time I wrote this I often slipped into an alter ego (not just in the studio but also in radio interviews) where I completely voluntarily stopped using my nose for breathing and talking (yes I just internally blocked my nasal passages somehow that I can't explain) and just became a mouth breather because it helped me to get more stupid. Now to all of you who might think that sounds rude, when I was a youngster getting stupid' was hip hop slang for just getting really hype and killing it (I think those two slang phrases are not yet outdated?). Regardless this song was a pure invocation of and heartfelt homage to golden era old school hip hop. I constructed the beat on the MPC-1000 and I even did some of the scratches. The rest were handled by DJ Fed Up (R.I.P.)
