2 Long 2 L8 02:35
I can't remember one damn thing from all the books and reading If I remember anything it's don't get caught believe Don't count the days since we did that Please I don't want to know Who's keep score who's keeping track While I'm still at zero and those Who knows The pain Is getting to be fun A rose A train A pack of chewing gun Two bros Cocaine A loaded fucking gun There goes My brain From staring at the sun Too long Too late You should have seen my humble face when the judge caught me cheating They took me back behind the barn beat me and left me bleeding They were my dudes they were my mates They were my fucking bros Why so much booze why so much hate I guess I had to go back home Who knows The pain Is getting to be fun A rose A train A pack of chewing gun Two bros Cocaine A loaded fucking gun There goes My brain From staring at the sun Too long Too late

Our lord awaiteth once again my friend And so we wait and so we wait Prepare the table with the heads of men Open the goat open the gate cus When all the days are done And Satan's on the mend We'll rise again The rock of ages calls upon the ancient wind We decorated the house just for him Painted the walls with blood and filled the chandeliers with gin Five pointed star on the door just for him Just so he knows that he can come right in cus When all the days are done And Satan's on the mend We'll rise again The rock of ages calls upon the ancient wind And in the night out in the park Something will rustle in the dark And in the town at someone's home They'll hear a strange noise on the phone And in the woods out in the night The forest creatures run and hide And out of town out on a road Someone that's driving sees a ghost And in the church a mist will creep Killing the preacher in his sleep And out of town out on a farm Something will rise out of a pond Into the sky spreading his wings His holy majesty our king Has come to feast upon the earth To mark his unholy rebirth It never came it never went

Relentless 03:07
Without a hope and left alone to cope, I always hoped I'd be relentless. I cut the rope and I fell into the world. Little did I know that it would be relentless. Well I got a job and I couldn't take it to long but like it or not I kept on looking for a shortcut. I found a girl but I don't think she believes me. My head's in a whirl. I'm having trouble sleeping and eating. I need a loop on guitar or MPC on repeat so I can sleep. Relentless. If I should die I would hope to stay that way. Otherwise life would always stay relentless. Well I read a book and it seemed to contain what I'm after but on second look I couldn't find that particular chapter. I took some drugs and I had some revelations but they didn't stick so I wrote this song and it seemed to do the trick.

For a little while I thought I had everything I wanted For a little while Every house seemed to be haunted From place to place I couldn't shake this feeling that I was being chased Away from my dreams For a little while I thought that I found something that was true and by your smile I thought that that something was you But then it died and someone picked me up and I just Crawled back up inside and waited for my dreams to take me When I woke up Everything I wanted was gone

Me After You 01:53
All of the time All of the wasted avenues Left it all in my mind Don't wanna sift through the manure My shady heaven Is easily taken over My lazy heaven Is easily painted over too All in my face With all your precious memories You like to sift through the waste And pick out a special piece to keep I'm crazy aren't I? Because I just keep on going Just call me crazy I couldn't possibly care less I chase you down with broken legs so I can pay Me after you My ride is waiting I can't wait not like I got Fuck else to do My mind can't take this kind of grace Do anything you ask me to I'd like to make the same mistake I'm on my way Me after you
7.
All Night 02:40
I know I'll never tell They'll never know because I'll never tell Hello I'm faring well We'll never know though Cus you're not yourself And I know that it will go all night How long have I been in this cell I'll never know because they'll never tell Our song I knew so well Could not remember the words anymore And it totally surprised me when you said Oh well And I know it will go all night Oh my god I said oh my lord How many times have I been here before Oh my lord I said Jesus Christ I never felt so goddamn good in my life
8.
Winter Ale 03:15
No time for innocence I been asleep for a minute or so No time for common sense This goes to fast for that Or didn't you know More wine more punishment Punishment for drawing pictures of those My time has been well spent Making friends getting in pictures to pose I got elected I went to jail I got infected I will not fail My crew defected I stopped getting mail This film's directed By winter ale My time is penitence But in a sense all I do is indulge My crime is being open To whichever way the situation may go More lights more camera Action now come on and bring it in close This business takes stamina That's why I brought my Oh didn't you know? I got elected I went to jail I got infected I will not fail My crew defected I stopped getting mail This film's directed By winter ale

Number One 01:44
ZACH Inside out and over again You put the upside down and you push on the end and a million entertainers are filling their containers with the leftover scraps from the buffet table and I'm a million and one Spit the old gold mantra from the diffident sun The indifferent one til you try to take it back then you have em at attention Of all the crazy things we've done this has to rank as number one Well I found out that it's over again and I'm not surprised no I never have been and all the stone cold miners nineteen forty-niners couldn't put my ass back together again Hail the prodigal son He only came home just to get his gun It's time to settle the score but they keep on coming back cus the policy's open door GRACE It's not our time We don't wanna wait in line I don't wanna drink the wine Of all the crazy things we've done this has to rank as number one.
10.
Blood of Men 03:12
I'm ready You're not You're not into the riffs I've got You're ready So what I'm watching cartoons I'm ready You're not You're sick of the clothes you bought I actually think that They're cool The moon decides your mood You brood I chill I'm not ready to get ill You're ready Cus you're drunk My battleship is fucking sunk Hello I'm back again and I expect your attention Hello I'm back again and I'm hungry for the Blood of Men You're dead Oh boy I see you've come back to destroy I am so scared Could you pass me the lawn chair So how have you been? Oh I forgot You're not my friend Hey those are my feet That you're beginning to eat Hello I'm back again and I expect your attention Hello I'm back again Concealing a six foot skeleton Hello I'm back again Expect to lose I expect to win Hello I'm back again and I'm hungry
11.
I got this sound I love The kind that makes me Smile and cry at the same time I wrote some words I thought would make you smile Come to the show my friend My favorite band I'm all set to go I've got my beer in my hand But when they start you go outside to smoke and drink I've got this place I go Where I can be at peace Oceans and gravestones I tried to take you there So maybe you could see what I could see Don't worry pretty baby you won't feel a thing

about

Grism is an entity developed when Zachary Lint kept writing rock songs that didn’t seem to fit into the world of his alter-ego Coolzey. Iowa City friends and Public School Records label-mates Rachel Feldmann and Kate Kane from Lipstick Homicide and Grace Locke-Ward from Petit Mal joined forces with our protagonist to breath life into a debut venture: Social Obligations. If the umbrella of Coolzey is much wider, covering ground from true-school hip hop, 4-track indie rock and blues, alt-country and pop that ranges in style from Beck to Kanye West, Social Obligations provides a sharper focal point musically, dwelling in a decidedly straightforward rock and roll that could only have existed between 1990 and the present, inhabiting areas between Superchunk and Nirvana, between Built to Spill and Bikini Kill. The album was recorded at Flat Black Studios in Iowa City over a two year period and mastered by Carl Saff in Chicago. Amazing Bay Area artist Jennifer Hennesy finished the artwork at the close of 2011 to complete the product. Grism toured America in the summer of 2011 released two video singles from the album on Youtube. Both videos were shot by Geoff Boothby and edited by Jason Hennesy. The video for Number One was staged inside the legendary Iowa City Mill and features a cast of locals who showed up for free hot wings and beer. The split video takes place insides Zach’s current remodel project in southeastern Iowa.

about

Coolzey Fairfield, Iowa

Golden era hip-hop roots planted in black Iowa dirt are the foundation. Growth tempered by alternative era rock influence. This along with a love for the juxtaposition of the dark, horrific nature of life paired with a slapstick and comedic view of the world allow for a wide, unpredictable arsenal ranging from soul-spilling indie bedroom rock to wise-cracking battle rap and on to radio pop. ... more
