When we see each other we smile No matter how long it's been it's always been a while I admire his style and he says that he admires mine Just coming back from an anxiety attack but now I feel fine Because I know my brother understands me Even though we other colors come from other families Seeing through that type of stuff is elementary for us Only thing we trust is that we both gonna be dust Just a moment a go I was alone even though I am in a metropolis surrounded by people Now I feel my company is kept by his presence I'm sick of learning lessons Lord shower me with blessings Let the good times roll I know that it's proverbial but Yo it's hard to catch a break up in this derby though My pine box is racing down a hill into an open grave And all I wanna do is die free and not a slave But either way I'm gonna have a good day today My friend writes sad songs and he's lost in the moment So raw to the bone it's so low where he's going When you listen to his lyrics you might cry There's so much pain and struggle Plus he's such a nice guy When you meet him his warm smile's the freedom You've been looking for Tell him hey for me when you see him Hard to believe he has such demons isn't it? You kind of want to be him just a little bit Yup the grass is always greener another cliche Kind of reminds you of something he'd see We play Russian roulette to stay inspired And laugh when we get fired Yo these cookies made me tired I think your boy's wired He looks like a narc But they can't catch me We tear through hooks like a shark Sorry I know that I got off track Things just haven't been the same since I got back From space stare into my dumb face and tell me What do you see? A mirror looking back jack You smell me? My friend writes sad songs and he's lost in the moment So raw to the bone it's so low where he's going

about

2nd in a new series of collaborative EPs from Coolzey. This time the production is provided by J.Rawls, veteran beat maker for the likes of Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Count Bass D. The duo expand on the mojo they found when creating 'Life is a Wheel' for the summer 2010 project 'Coolzey and the Search for the Hip Hop Hearts'in songs as diverse as 'Lost in the Moment', a happy, bouncy ballad about a good friend who writes sad songs, to the embracing of one's dark side in the haunting
'Thang for the Yang'. Copywrite of MegaHertz and Bru Lei make guest appearances in 'Spitball Lives!', a tribute to DJ PRZM (RIP 2007) a great friend and mentor to Coolzey and a Columbus Ohio scene peer to J.Rawls.

about

Coolzey Fairfield, Iowa

Golden era hip-hop roots planted in black Iowa dirt are the foundation. Growth tempered by alternative era rock influence. This along with a love for the juxtaposition of the dark, horrific nature of life paired with a slapstick and comedic view of the world allow for a wide, unpredictable arsenal ranging from soul-spilling indie bedroom rock to wise-cracking battle rap and on to radio pop. ... more
